Ophthalmic ultrasonography is a widely used, non-invasive, and reliable imaging method in veterinary medicine for evaluating the structures of the eye and orbit. It provides significant diagnostic value, particularly in cases where intraocular structures such as corneal opacities, lens pathologies, vitreous, and retinal diseases cannot be directly assessed with ophthalmoscopy. Ultrasonography in cats and dogs allows for detailed examination of anatomical structures and guides clinicians in the early diagnosis of trauma, tumors, inflammatory, and degenerative diseases. This method, built on scientific foundations, relies on the analysis of reflections created by high-frequency sound waves according to tissue differences. Thus, it provides valuable information for surgical planning, prognosis determination, and treatment processes. The clinical applications of ophthalmic ultrasonography increase diagnostic accuracy in modern veterinary ophthalmology and contribute to multidisciplinary approaches in animal health.
