Samenvatting:

Every day we are asked to believe something. A headline tells us what happened. An advertisement tells us what to buy. A political message tells us whom to trust. A social media post tells us what to fear, support, reject, or share. A public figure explains. A friend repeats a rumor. An expert presents a conclusion. An artificial intelligence system produces an answer within seconds. The amount of information available to us is extraordinary, and so is the amount of misinformation, manipulation, confusion, and unsupported opinion. The central challenge of the modern world is no longer simply finding information.
It is determining which information deserves our trust.
How do we distinguish a fact from an opinion? How do we know whether evidence is reliable? How can we recognize when emotion is being used to influence us? How do we determine whether a source is credible? How can we disagree without abandoning reason, dignity, or respect?
And perhaps most importantly:
How do we recognize when we may be wrong?
These questions are at the heart of The Power to Think.
