Samenvatting:

Explore Your Inner Self

I'M THE SORT OF PERSON who calls a spade a spade." "She's the life and soul of the party." "He walks around with a chip on his shoulder." "He's a natural leader." "She's charismatic." "You hide your light under a bushel."

All of these familiar phrases are everyday shorthand for describing the greatest enigma of all: human personality. Everyone knows what the word means, more or less. It means the patterns of behavior a particular person displays. Getting deeper than this simple definition, however, raises all sorts of problems. For instance, do actions reveal motives? Can observing patterns of behavior lead to insight into one's innermost self, one's core of personality? How is this core self formed? Is personality inborn or learned? Can it be molded or changed? And if so, how?

This book looks at all of these questions. Its aim is to help you discover more about your own personality and the forces that shaped it. And it offers guides to healthy ways of enhancing your strong points, realizing untapped strengths and if you want to changing characteristics that you feel may be limiting your life.

The starting point is a quiz (see page eight) that will provide you with a broad picture of your own personality. The quiz is a first step toward deeper probing. Prepared by experts, it is the result of many decades of development in the study of the human psyche.
