As adults, we often blame the youth for the things that have gone wrong in the community, schools, churches, streets, neighborhood violence and the music. We often say, “Those kids are out of control,” “They’re always messing something up,” and “That’s why I don’t go down there…” It is harshly disrespectful how we avoid them like a plague. Our youth, our younger siblings, sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, grandsons and granddaughters; we discourage them with our judgmental looks and policies.
