This series of highly practical guides has been designed for all practitioners who work with children ad their families, with the aim of providing concise, up-to-date information on children problems. The guides are designed for use in counseling clients and planning training/therapeutic programmes, and can also be used for teaching purposes. The ‘Hints for Parents’ sections which appear at the back of the guides may be photocopied and given to clients; the questionnaires, checklists and assessment forms which appear in the Appendices are also copyright-free.
This guide is specifically about the assessment of children in need and includes the issue of abuse and the need for special eduaction and care. A guide to the meaning of 'significance of harm' as defined in the Children Act 1989, is also outlined.
