Domestic violence is a prevalent public health problem in our society affecting thousands of women worldwide. This book is designed for healthcare providers, counselors, criminal justice staff in identifying and working with victims of domestic violence. This book focuses on issues related to domestic violence in the nation. In addition, it discusses a diversity of populations affected by domestic violence: teenagers, pregnant women, women in the workplace, lesbian and gay relationships, rural battered women, women with disabilities, immigrants women, welfare recipients, women and the military (i.e., enlisted women, spouses, intimate partners), and international violence issues.
