Tara Lambert is sixteen and her life is a mess. Arguments over her wild behavior have driven her wealthy workaholic parents to divorce. Running a lucrative real estate business, they no longer have time for weekend sailing with Tara, her favorite activity. She rebels by turning to drugs and alcohol. At a private airfield in the Florida Everglades, Tara passes out, then recovers in time to see her parents' Learjet take off. She watches in horror as both engines quit and the plane crashes and burns in the swamp. Tara faints and her bizarre "Oz"-like nightmare begins when she wakes in the "Land's End Reform School for Wayward Girls" on an isolated Florida beach. Encountering oddly-familiar characters and horrifying leech-like creatures, Tara realizes she must be dreaming. She believes that if she can just wake up, she can somehow prevent the plane crash that killed her parents. A mysterious ghost-like apparition from Tara's past may hold the key to saving her parents and family. But only if she wakes in time...
