Samenvatting:

Nocturnal pests insect have became increasingly difficult throughout the world. In majority cases, control measures are primarily dependent with the use of chemical pesticides where the use of mycoinsecticides based with insect parasitic nematodes is grossly lacking. Use of chemical pesticides have aggravated pest resistance causing the damage to an unacceptable level. This book depicts alternative control measures with nematode, wihch were identified, cultured mass produced in the Galleria mellonella in White traps. Efficacy study on the greater wax moth (Galleria mellonella) and Helicoverpa armigera showed their effectiveness at 300 C for Stinernema abbasi and Steinernema riobravae and, at 250 C for Steinernema carpocapsae. The nematodes can be mass produced in the larvae of Gellaria mellonella. S. abbasi is one of the potential candidate for in vivo production and against three stages of H. Armigera. Nematode species can be used as a mycoinsecticides against the larvae of insects living in the soil and cryptic habitats and these products has greater value in protected and organic agriculture.
