Samenvatting:

The constant moans from Raymond Kershaw’s friends about the state of the country, lead him into making an idyllic fantasy creation on his computer. His skills enable the local populace of the Miners Arms public house to join in and enjoy a surreal playground where they can enjoy a return to values from a bygone age. They are able to debate the current political issues and input their own ideas of how a country should be run. The computerized Patriot Island is aptly named, complete with houses, schools and industry, but more importantly a voice for the people. With more people joining when it opens its borders to the World Wide Web, it soon becomes a thorn in the side of councillors and members of parliament alike, especially when it acquires damning leaked documents from within the government…and publishes them. True figures on police detection, immigration and council hand-outs puts Patriot Island and its members in direct conflict with people in high office; people who have too much to lose if all is revealed. Patriot Island says what most of the British public were afraid to admit…That the last part of the Empire was about to implode.
