I’ve had only one goal in life since I first stepped on the ice in Denmark—make America’s pro hockey league.

Now, as the starting Forward for the Carolina Ice Kings, I’m determined to stay at the top of my game. No distractions.

But when my birthday comes around, my teammate’s convince me to live a little.

After all, how much distraction can come from one weekend?

The answer comes less than a year later when my beautiful neighbor, Paisley, shows up at my door holding a crying baby and a note from the woman who left him behind that declares he’s mine.

I'm in way over my head.

There is no playbook for situations like this.

But Paisley is there.

Helping. Guiding. Instructing.

Staring at me with those captivating green eyes filled with all the confidence in the world that I can do this.

I want to prove her right. Among other things. But getting her body in my arms will have to take a back seat to figuring out how to be a single dad.

I’m quickly learning there’s more to winning a hockey game.
