There is an extensive literature on politics dating back to Hobbes and Machiavelli. However, much of it does not attract the audience involved with the day-to-day realities of contemporary office politics. Dial M for Machiavelli is an attempt to collect and sort out some of the Machiavellis or Machiavellian metaphors for active busy (or what I call mobile) managers interested in organizational politics and yet do not have the opportunity or the time to go into the depth and details of the academic literature in this field.
