The upbringing of Oprah Winfrey may have been a nightmare, but it did not stop her from achieving her ambitions. She is currently a world-famous TV personality, host, actress, businesswoman, and philanthropist. She was born on January 29, 1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She went to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when she was six, to live with her mother, but several of her relatives sexually abused her. Then during her early adolescence, she moved to live with her father in Nashville. As early as 19 years old, she was already a news anchor in the local CBS television station. After graduating from Tennessee State University in 1976, she became a reporter and co-anchor for the ABC News affiliate in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to Chicago in 1984 to host the talk show AM Chicago, subsequently renamed The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1985. Her career has skyrocketed since then. She received several awards, appeared in various films, authored and published books, established her own magazine, and took part in several charity efforts.
