Are you created in God's image
or formed for His purpose?
We live in a world where, daily, we are confronted with battles of good versus evil, a constant battle between intent versus reality...effort versus results?
Antithesis is a word better understood when two things are viewed in contrast.
In this respect, The Antithesis lays out a plot that uses scripture to contrast God's intent for the good He created in Genesis 1:27 versus his intent for what He formed in Genesis 2:7.
In the Image of ... is not so much about visual likeness but similarities in behavior.
It's like looking in a mirror. The truth you are faced with is when you move the right-side of your body the left-side of your image replicates that movement. Likewise, when fleshing out markers where pillow-talk dimmed the bright-line rule governing the actions of what God formed, the truth we are faced with is that God never intended for the man He formed from the dust of the ground to be "like" Him (Gen. 3:22).
While God's created entity must be admired for the effort put forth in making God's formed entity more like Him, the reality is this commingling produced a transgression resulting in a violation of God's intent for each.
Gen1:26 versus Gen. 2:5
In the court of celestial law, the man "formed" from the dust of the earth was sentenced to death. Nonetheless, despite the efforts of God to destroy this human race, the sons of God appealed the sentence in the form of a ruse we now know as the great flood.
The devil is in the details. Emboldened by personal preferences and desire this account of the serpent and Eve has all the makings of a spiritual conspiracy and a romantic tragedy. The resulting bad behavior makes reading the Bible fun.
