The story begins in the future year of 1969, when the first successful manned spaceship, led by the protagonist, Julian 5th, heads for Mars. However, due to a malfunction, the ship is diverted to the moon, where the crew makes an unexpected landing. Once on the moon, the crew discovers that it is not a barren wasteland, but a vibrant world with its own atmosphere, flora, fauna, and intelligent species.The moon is inhabited by two distinct races: the Va-gas, a savage, ape-like species, and the more advanced U-ga, a humanoid race living in subterranean cities. The protagonist, Julian 5th, is captured by the Va-gas but later escapes and meets Nah-ee-lah, a princess of the U-ga. The two form a bond as they navigate the complex dynamics between the moon’s civilizations.
