Breena is adjusting to her new life in the Mallard Agency. When she is excluded from Robert’s secret case about a planned attack on Alfred Finch, the London leader of the Five, she is relieved to get a case of her own.

A woman named Rosemary is under the spell of a gypsy fortune teller. Her sister fears, both for Rosemary, as for her chances to get married. What does this man want? Breena is pleased to take him on. She knows she can beat him in his own game. Things take a turn for the worse as the gypsy is murdered and she becomes a suspect.

As she teams up with Robert to clear her name and find the real killer, their cases turn out to be connected. As they race to save both Rosemary and the Finch family, the danger for their own lives increases.
