Drawing Birds

From finches to flamingos, this practical guide introduces the fundamentals of drawing birds with step-by-step drawing projects that are accessible for absolute beginners.

Birds are the most eye-catching of animals, with their graceful forms, dynamic personalities, beautiful colours and complex patterns. A highly worked, photo-realistic painting of a bird may take many patient hours of work, but it is also possible (and perhaps even more rewarding) to capture the form and character of a bird much more quickly and simply, once you are familiar with how its body is put together and how it moves.

Drawing Birds introduces these techniques, from the anatomy of birds to capturing birds in flight and how to sketch birds from life. The subjects chosen for this book represent a wide variety of different bird families, from hummingbirds to albatrosses and ducks to parrots, and you will find species representative of every continent on Earth.
