Life-Changing Power of Gratitude, The

On November 11, 2013, a jobless forty-year-old wrote three sentences in a notebook. They changed everything.

"I'm grateful that I'm alive. I'm grateful for my family. I'm grateful for the cup of coffee I had on the beach."

That's how Marc Reklau's first gratitude journal begins — written while unemployed, living off savings, with no idea what came next. Sixteen months later, on March 31, 2015, his first book was downloaded nearly 40,000 times in a matter of days.

Today his books have sold over 1,000,000 copies. Ask him for the single biggest factor behind that transformation, and his answer is one word: gratitude.

Sound too simple? That's the point. Gratitude is considered the single most impactful intervention in all of positive psychology — scientifically linked to being happier, sleeping better, and reducing anxiety, anger, and even headaches.

Here's why it works: you cannot be grateful and angry at the same time. You cannot be grateful and worried at the same time. It's the best antidote to every negative emotion — and it costs you five minutes a day.

In this simple book, you'll learn seven exercises to put gratitude to work, including:

• How to choose gratitude mindfully every day — in five minutes or less
• Exactly when and how to practice for maximum benefit
• How to feel grateful even when you think you have absolutely nothing to be grateful for
• How to stay grateful in genuinely hard times
• How gratitude transforms your relationships, your work, and your health

...and much more.

If gratitude came in pill form, it would fly off the shelves. It doesn't. You still have to do a little work. Five minutes a day should do it.

The more grateful you become, the better your life will get. Start tonight.
