The CISO's AI Firewall

Your board just asked the question every security leader now dreads: "Are we exposed on AI?"

Generative and agentic AI have moved from experiment to infrastructure faster than any technology a CISO has had to govern - and the controls that protected deterministic software were never designed to contain systems that learn, generate, and act. The CISO's AI Firewall is the field guide for closing that gap.

Built around the CISO's Decision Journey — a five-stage loop of Assess, Govern, Defend, Monitor, and Improve — this book turns an overwhelming problem into a sequence you can lead. Across fourteen chapters it moves from the AI threat landscape and the regulatory environment to threat modelling and red teaming, a layered security-controls architecture, AI incident response, the AI-assisted SOC, and a 90-day programme roadmap.

You will learn to:

• Build a risk-based inventory of the AI systems, models, and data across your enterprise
• Map AI-specific threats — prompt injection, data poisoning, model theft, excessive agency — to concrete controls
• Align to the standards you'll be measured against: the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications (2025), the NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, MITRE ATLAS, the EU AI Act, and APRA CPS 234
• Translate technical risk into board-ready language, metrics, and governance

Whether you're a CISO, security architect, GRC leader, or board sponsor, this is a practical, vendor-neutral playbook for governing large language models before the breach — not after.

Practical. Actionable. Built for today's CISO.
