The Power of Petty Prayers

Nona Jones—author of The Gift of Rejection—exposes a truth about prayer that you're not taught in church: God doesn't just tolerate your raw emotions; he invites them.

As Christians, we're often encouraged to smile through pain, forgive before we've even finished bleeding, and tame our emotions. We learn how to be gracious, but not how to be honest. How to turn the other cheek, but not how to handle the pain. And when someone lies to us, betrays us, or breaks our trust, we're told to forgive, but never told what to do with the anger that remains.

In The Power of Petty Prayers, Nona Jones introduces a bold, biblical framework for prayer and reveals how so-called "petty" prayers are the key to a vulnerable and authentic prayer life. She invites you to pray honest, raw prayer by walking you through the Psalms in which David honestly expressed his anger and cried out to God for divine vindication and justice against his enemies.

With her signature candor and biblical wisdom, Nona guides you into a deeper, more liberating relationship with God—one where you can:

• Pray like David—with raw authenticity rather than vague politeness.
• Invite God into your emotions—even the messy ones.
• Let go of bitterness without pretending injustice didn't happen.
• Experience God's peace when you surrender your need to get the last word.
• Recognize the spiritual danger of human retaliation and the beauty of divine justice.

This book is your permission slip to stop burying your pain and start surrendering it—so God can finally heal it and set you free.
